We rented paddle boards and a 2 person kayak for a couple hours one day. We had a great time out on the bay and saw a couple dolphins swimming. Some of our party were pretty uncomfortable going out on the water, so we decided to go out on Tarpon Bay instead of the Gulf. The water is very calm and the staff were very helpful as some of us had never paddle boarded before. Enjoyable activity.
Went on the evening cruise. Our guide Marcy was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! Saw mostly birds while on the cruise, but the touch pool session at the beginning was cool. The boat was very nice and we went pretty far.
Decided to rent a pontoon boat for a half-day and take the family fishing. Rented gear – pole/open-face reels (4 were on the boat), and purchased some lead shot and hooks and 3 dozen live shrimp loaded into the fresh bait box in the boat. The boat had ample seating, benches under the cover, plus the captain’s swivel and two swivel seats at the back for the fishermen. Kids enjoyed and that is all that counts. Staff were helpful, gave advice on where to look for fish.
Go here every year to kayak or just relax on the water. Rental prices are reasonable for the area and the scenery and water is beautiful. Staff is very knowledgeable and offer several programs for everyone in the family. Plenty of parking and also has a nice gift shop to kill time in.
Our trip guide Kelsey was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable about all of the wildlife and could answer everyone’s questions. We spotted lemon sharks, several manatee and dolphins. We especially appreciated her respect and concern for the wildlife, making sure everyone kept enough distance to not alter their behavior in any way. We saw so many different variety of sea birds it was breathtaking and Kelsey knew so much about them. This trip was wonderful and a very lovely, memorable experience!!!
