Did You Know?

Sanibel was once the mosquito capital of the world. Before mosquito control methods were introduced, one acre on Sanibel was estimated to hold 2 billion mosquitos! Wildlife Drive was created for the purpose of mosquito control to manipulate water levels during mosquito breeding season. Nowadays, mosquitos are not as populous and Wildlife Drive is a phenomenal place for visitors to come and experience vast amounts of wading birds, fish and reptiles.
